Arts in the New Year
Arts In Education Program Seeks Artists, Teachers and SchoolsThe Berkeley Arts Council of Berkeley County WV has created a pilot program called Arts in Education with the support of the Berkeley County Schools. This program is funded with grants from the WV Commission on the Arts and the Eastern Panhandle Community Foundation. The program is therefore being offered at NO cost to the school or teacher. Details are on the Berkeley Arts Council web site here. Art and Earth Juried ExhibitOnce again, the Berkeley Arts Council is collaborating with The Arts Centre to produce the second Art and Earth Juried Art Exhibit. Submissions will be accepted starting in January with the deadline February 23, 2012. The exhibit will open April 20, 2012. More details will be posted in early January on the Berkeley Arts Council web site here. Arts ExpoThe arts are entertaining, relaxing, fun to do, attractive to see and offer great learning experiences for young people and adults! We plan to repeat our first-yearly Arts Expo on March 24. To participate or learn more, watch for announcements in the Berkeley Arts Bulletin or our Facebook page. Check out our video and photos of last year's event here. “Show Us You Can Dance” Returns in March and April Dance students from Berkeley County and beyond leaped, tapped, hiphopped and pirouetted last spring in our first local competition at Musselman High School. Registration for the 2012 event will begin February 1. Email youcandance (at) berkeleyartswv (dot) org to be sure you receive a registration packet. Special: Regional Watercolor Workshop with Tom LynchWe are exploring bringing this nationally known instructor to Berkeley County in June for a three-day workshop.
