As part of The Arts Council's commitment to supporting local artists and artisans, we are offering workshops in various areas such as the use of technology, business practices, promotion and marketing, web sites for artists, presentation of artwork, photographing artwork, preparation of submissions to juried exhibits or other competitions, and other areas that may be identified.

Venice Glow by Tom Lynch4 Day Watercolor Workshop

Workshop Fee $400 (Hotel and meals not included * )
Lynch brings to his class the same enthusiasm and energy as seen on his nationally known TV series "Fun with Watercolor" that has been on PBS for the last 20 years.
The objectives of the workshop are to show the vast range and flexibility of watercolor. This includes how to put emotion and conviction into painting by exploring, experimenting, and developing the creativity of each individual. Tom makes the process of painting fun, along with sharing his enthusiasm and demonstrating new techniques in an atmosphere that makes the intermediate and advanced painter feel welcome!
You are qualified for this workshop with Tom if you can:
- Dilute paint and apply
- Mix colors and apply
- Apply paint with flat or round brushes
- Experiment with wet on wet or dry brush techniques
- Change value with water

A goal for each day is set, and each student will see an example and understanding of that day's lesson. There will be daily demonstration paintings, with detailed explanations of all the "hows" and "whys" followed by individual attention to see what each student understands and has as an example of the day's objective.

Description of a Tom Lynch workshop from Lima, Ohio Area Watercolor Society
* Hotel Information:
The workshop (July 10-13) group rate is $92 per room. For reservations contact the Holiday Inn Martinsburg directly at (304) 267-5500.
After registration is paid an informational packet will be sent to the participant. Included in the packet will be directions, hotel information, local restaurants, supply list, and other helpful resources to make your workshop experience easy and fun. A maximum of 26 participants will be accepted for this workshop. We will close registration and maintain a waiting list once the maximum is reached.
Register online or download the registration form and pay with a check by mail. Full payment is due May 26, 2012
Please submit the information on the form and select the appropriate payment on the next screen. The workshop fee is $400. If you prefer, a $100 deposit will hold your place with the balance due by May 26, 2012.
Refund Policy:
The Berkeley Arts Council reserves the right to cancel the workshop for any reason, in which case all deposits and registration fees will be refunded. A participant may cancel 60 days prior to workshop (May 10, 2012) and receive a full refund. Requests must be in writing. If a participant cancels between 30 and 60 days prior to workshop (June 10, 2012) all monies EXCEPT $100 will be refunded. A participant that cancels 30 days or less prior to workshop will NOT receive a refund.
